Since 2010 the "The Autumn of the Patriarch" is the annual performing and audiovisual arts festival of the Latvian Academy of Culture, which takes place in the first week of October. The aim of the festival is to stage the creative works of students in the form of a week’s marathon, which is often the result of interdisciplinary cooperation between the students of creative specialities (dancers, actors, theatre and film directors and playwrights) and students of theoretical specialities, who ensure translations of plays, performance reviews and newspaper articles as well as help with the event management. The cooperation is also established with the students of other higher education institutions, for example, with the Latvian Academy of Fine Arts in the field of stage design. Each year the best play wins an opportunity to be staged on one of the professional theatres of Latvia.
