It is aligned with the strategy of the Latvian Academy of Culture, as well as its specialisation of studies, programmes and their sub-programmes, thus focusing on exploration of the following priority areas:
LAC research impact stems from the generation of new knowledge on internationally relevant scientific themes, and dissemination of that knowledge. The core impacts of LAC research are in the specialisation areas of cultural heritage (intangible and tangible), cultural participation, theatre, dance and cinema, and cultural and creative sector research.
Most of the new knowledge in 2013–2018 has been generated by several major research projects, namely two National Research Programmes, two Latvian Science Council supported research projects, a bilateral international partnership ‘Osmosis’ supported by governmental sources for two bienniums, and one implemented Horizon 2020 project. There has also been an increasing number of studies commissioned by the national and local level governments.
The LAC Research Centre is available to provide expertise analysis and commentary on a wide variety of research topics in the field of culture and arts.
